Zoho Reaffirms Commitment to Indian Data Sovereignty and Self-Reliance
Zoho, a homegrown software enterprise, has reiterated its commitment to Indian data sovereignty and self-reliance. The company, which operates its own global infrastructure, has clarified its stance amidst discussions about its global footprint and data practices.
Zoho's founder, Sridhar Vembu, has reassured users about the company's 'Swadeshi' roots. He stated that Zoho's products are developed and headquartered in India, with all global income taxed domestically. The company aligns with initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat and Digital India, aiming to create global-class solutions within the country.
Zoho operates over 18 regional data centers worldwide, each keeping data local to its respective globe. For Indian users, data is hosted domestically across data centers in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and soon, Odisha. The company does not use services like AWS, Azure, or GCloud, ensuring no customer data resides outside its own systems. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has endorsed Zoho's products, using Zoho Show for an official presentation.
Despite online chatter, Zoho has no official government cabinet members using its messaging app 'Arattai' for work. The company's commitment to Indian data sovereignty and self-reliance is evident in its operations and alignment with national initiatives. Zoho continues to serve customers globally while keeping data local and secure.
