Yakutia Tightens Labor Migration Controls After Conflict
In Yakutia, the Head of the Republic, Aisen Nikolaev, has convened a zoom meeting with law enforcement agencies to address public order and labor migration issues, following a recent conflict and a decrease in migrant-related crimes in 2023.
At the zoom meeting, Nikolaev emphasized the importance of preventing criminal elements from entering the region through stricter control over foreign labor attraction. He noted that external influences can stir interethnic strife and spread extremist slogans, as seen in other regions.
Preventive measures will be taken to ensure compliance with migration legislation, legality of Russian citizenship, and fulfillment of citizen obligations. Employers hiring migrants, particularly in the construction industry and trade, will be checked to ensure labor law adherence and proper employee conduct.
The decrease in migrant-related crimes in 2023 has been acknowledged, but recent events have heightened public attention. All parties involved in the Yakutsk conflict on January 21 have been identified and detained, with the case under the control of the highest investigative authority.
The Head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, has expressed gratitude to law enforcement agencies and government bodies for their prompt actions in maintaining public order. He has outlined plans to strengthen control over foreign labor attraction to prevent criminal elements from entering the region. The zoom meeting underscores the republic's commitment to addressing labor migration issues and ensuring public safety.
