Wolfsburg Launches Summer School for Automotive Circular Economy

The city of Wolfsburg is set to bolster its research and training location with the development of the Joint Campus Wolfsburg. This strategic goal is supported by an upcoming Summer School, backed by Volkswagen and the city itself, focusing on the automotive circular economy. The event, to be held from September 8 to 12, aligns with the Technical University of Brunswick's Ecoversity strategy, promoting interdisciplinary work for sustainable solutions.

The Summer School, organized by the Technical University of Brunswick, the Open Hybrid LabFactory, Ostfalia University, and the Fraunhofer CCEM, will bring together students from various disciplines. They will develop ideas for sustainable automotive production, addressing key questions such as designing vehicle components for easier repair and recycling, efficient disassembly methods, suitable materials for recycling, and economic effects along the value chain. The automotive industry's transformation towards keeping materials in the cycle as long as possible requires new value concepts and production processes, making this event highly relevant.

The Joint Campus Wolfsburg aims to become a flagship location for the automotive circular economy, both regionally and internationally. It seeks to foster strong research expertise and offer studies, further education, and knowledge transfer opportunities.

The first Summer School on the 'Automotive Circular Economy' at the Joint Campus Wolfsburg is an exciting step towards a more sustainable future in the automotive industry. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative thinking, the event promises to contribute significantly to the region's development as a research and training location.
