Collier's comments, made amidst ongoing negotiations between the WNBPA and the WNBA, suggest that a new CBA agreement before the October 31 deadline is unlikely. Both sides expect to miss the deadline and continue negotiations into the offseason. Engelbert had previously mentioned the option of extending the CBA deadline, which is not uncommon.
Collier criticized Engelbert for negligence in addressing officiating, compensation, and league state issues. She accused Engelbert of telling her that young stars like Caitlin Clark should be grateful for the WNBA's platform and that Clark earns $16 million off the court due to sponsorship deals.
