Judith Hasko, a nationally recognised life sciences transactional lawyer, has taken over as the Chair of WilmerHale's Transactional Department, succeeding Mick Bain who retired after nearly 30 years with the firm.

Hasko joined WilmerHale in 2024 and had previously served as Co-Chair of the firm's Life Sciences Practice. With over 30 years of experience in life sciences and complex corporate transactions, she advises emerging and established companies, including startups, private equity investors, and financial institutions. Based in WilmerHale’s Palo Alto office, she leads the Transactional Department in handling a broad scope of transactions such as fundraising, complex commercial deals, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Additionally, she focuses on developing the next generation of transactional lawyers within the firm.

Hasko is a trusted counselor to both emerging and established businesses in the life sciences sector. She is a key advisor to high growth companies and their investors on strategic intellectual property and technology-based commercial transactions. Her role is to lead and expand WilmerHale’s Transactional Department, leveraging her extensive experience in life sciences and corporate transactions to advise high-growth companies throughout their lifecycle.

Mick Bain, who has been with WilmerHale since 1993, is retiring from the firm after three decades of service. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping WilmerHale's Transactional Practice. Anjan Sahni, Managing Partner at WilmerHale, praised Bain's strategic vision and commitment to excellence in client work. He mentioned that many companies and entrepreneurs have Bain to thank for guiding them through transformative transactions, overseeing many complex and high-profile deals. Bain expressed gratitude towards WilmerHale, colleagues, clients, and friends for three decades of partnership and trust.

In a statement, Sahni praised Hasko, calling her a proven leader with an exceptional track record and extraordinary reputation. He is confident that under her leadership, the Transactional Department will continue to offer innovative solutions to clients. Hasko stated that the team will continue to focus on providing exceptional client service and delivering results.

As Chair of the Department, Hasko will lead a deep bench of experienced attorneys in advising entrepreneurs, startups, and high growth companies. She will continue to lead from the firm's Palo Alto office, expanding on the firm’s dealmaking capabilities. Her goal is to help clients achieve their most important goals in executing critical financial and commercial transactions.
