The Federal Police Directorate in Hannover has launched a comprehensive operation to prevent and investigate sexual offenses within the railway police's jurisdiction, spanning across all three federal states.

On Wednesday, a large-scale search operation was carried out in Bremen, Lower Saxony, and Hamburg. Approximately 350 uniformed and plainclothes federal police officers were deployed between 07:00 and 24:00, with special focus on monitoring local and long-distance traffic, cross-border traffic, and main train stations.

In Bremen, a 48-year-old German was recognized by a super-recognizer and is suspected of having committed a theft three months ago, worth 329 euros. Meanwhile, in Goslar, a 27-year-old German was controlled on a regional express train between Goslar and Brunswick. The public prosecutor's office in Brunswick issued an arrest warrant for the individual for the illegal possession of narcotics.

On the south side of the Hamburg main station, a 70-year-old Polish national was found and controlled by federal police officers due to an arrest warrant for theft with weapons. After paying a bail amount of 900 euros, the individual was released.

The operation also involved the search for previously unidentified suspects and persons wanted by the police. These super-recognizers were instrumental in identifying a 27-year-old German, who was involved, along with a 57-year-old accomplice, in a robbery at a subsidiary building of Bremen Central Station on June 10, 2025. However, the specific name of the suspect is not provided in the available search results.

Michael Schuol, President of the Federal Police Directorate Hannover, stated that the fight against crime in high-frequency regions is a top priority. He emphasized that the operation aimed to maintain the presence of the police at critical points such as train stations and on trains, ensuring public safety and enhancing passengers' sense of security.
