Laurentiuskirmes in Bergisch Gladbach 2025: A Four-Day Celebration
Bergisch Gladbach is gearing up for the much-anticipated Laurentiuskirmes, scheduled to take place from Saturday, August 9th to Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 [1][3]. The event promises a delightful blend of traditional festivities, thrilling rides, and captivating shows.
The heart of the celebration will be at St. Laurentius church and Konrad-Adenauer-Platz, where a 38-meter-high Ferris wheel and various marketplace rides will be set up [1][3]. The festivities will kick off with a Schaustellermesse (showman fair) at St. Laurentius church on August 9th at 10:00 AM, followed by the traditional festivities [1][3].
To accommodate the influx of visitors, there will be some changes to the city's infrastructure during the event period. From August 4th until August 13th, 2025, there will be stop relocations and road closures in Bergisch Gladbach [2]. These changes will affect local bus stops and potentially some street access to accommodate the fairgrounds and visitor flows.
During the event, the weekly market will be temporarily located in the pedestrian zone on the main street on the dates of Wednesday, August 6th, Saturday, August 9th, and Wednesday, August 13th [1]. Additionally, all vehicle traffic, including cyclists, will be prohibited along the city hall up to the Schnabelsmühle roundabout [1]. Pedestrians will have free access and passage during this period.
Buses will detour to the temporary stops at the city hall "An der Gohrsmühle" during the closure [2]. Cyclists can detour via the Buchmühlen parking lot or dismount and push their bicycles on the pavement within the closure area.
Interestingly, the city hall parking lot will be transformed into a campsite for showmen's vehicles as early as Sunday, August 3rd [1]. The bus lane on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz will be closed from Monday, August 4th, at 7 AM, until Wednesday, August 13th [2].
Traffic in the Bergisch Gladbach city center will resume as normal from Thursday, August 14th [1]. It's an exciting time for Bergisch Gladbach, and we look forward to the Laurentiuskirmes 2025!
