Celebrations to Enliven Lubinsky Prospekt in Omsk this Summer

Beginning this summer, Lubinsky Prospekt in Omsk will transform into a venue for public gatherings. The city authorities have announced plans to pedestrianize the street on weekends. A press conference was held to discuss developments on Lenina Street and the upcoming events on the newly pedestrianized street, attended by Yuri Trofimov, the Minister of Culture of the Omsk Region, Inna Yeltskaya, Deputy Mayor of Omsk, and Vadim Kormilets, Director of Omsk Transport Department.

Impact on Traffic

For the first time, Lubinsky Prospekt will be closed to vehicular traffic on May 16, starting at 8:00 PM and lasting until 8:00 PM on May 18. This is only the first of several scheduled closures throughout the summer, with the last one set for August 31. During these times, road signs and information boards will be installed to guide motorists.

Vadim Kormilets, Director of Omsk Transport Department, stated that they expect a natural decrease in traffic during the summer due to various reasons, so they anticipate no undue complications. The stretch of Lubinsky Prospekt affected by these restrictions will run from Pobeda Square to Partizanskaya Street. To accommodate the changes, three bus routes (No. 25, 73, and 8 trolleybus) will be rerouted during weekends.

Alternative Routes and Detours

Car drivers are advised to utilize Tarskaya, Spartakovskaya, and Partizanskaya Streets and the Yubileyny Bridge for detours. When traveling in the opposite direction, the main route will pass through Gagarin Street and the Komsomolsky Bridge.

Planned Events

The city officials also shared details about the events scheduled for Lubinsky Prospekt this summer. From May 24 through May 26, the All-Russian "Run.RF" will take place, accompanied by entertainment programs in Gorsad and Dzerzhinsky Park. A series of events, including the "Green Marathon" with music and dancing (May 30 - June 1), Russia Day and the "Russia - It's Us" forum (June 12), and Youth Day (June 29-30), will also be held.

Inna Yeltskaya, Deputy Mayor of Omsk, explained that stationary stages will be installed on Lubinsky Prospekt to host concerts and performances during weekends, without disrupting pedestrian and vehicular traffic on normal days. Meanwhile, Yuri Trofimov highlighted that the program also extends beyond Lubinsky Prospekt, encompassing the city garden, Dzerzhinsky Square, Muzeynaya Street, and more.

The "Night of Museums" event will be held beyond Lubinsky Prospekt, featuring concerts, master classes, and cultural exhibitions in various locations, including Chokana Valikhanova Street, Muzeynaya Street, the City Garden, and Dzerzhinsky Square near the Vrubel Museum.
