Volvo unveils refreshed XC60 model in India, available at an initial price of ₹71.90 lakh
The Swedish automaker, Volvo, has unveiled the facelifted XC60 in India, maintaining its position as the brand's best-selling model. The updated SUV is set to rival the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Lexus NX 300h in India's premium mid-size SUV space.
The exterior of the facelifted XC60 sports a sharper front grille with diagonal slats, similar to the updated XC90. The redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels and new taillights at the rear, sans chrome elements, add to the SUV's modern appeal. The facelifted XC60 retains its overall silhouette, but subtle cosmetic enhancements include two new color options: Mulberry Red and Forest Lake.
Stepping inside, the facelifted XC60 emphasizes clean, minimalist Scandinavian design with high build quality. The interior features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, voice-assistance, Play Store integration, along with Google Maps built-in. The highlight is the new 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, promising smoother and more responsive operation.
The interior also boasts a 1410-watt Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 15 speakers, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility. The seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions, ensuring comfort for all passengers. Additionally, the facelifted XC60 is equipped with an ADAS safety suite and air purification technology for a safer and healthier ride.
Under the hood, the powertrain remains a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol 4-cylinder making 250 hp and 360 Nm torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and AWD, featuring a 48V mild-hybrid system for smoother but modest assistance.
The facelifted XC60 continues to prioritize comfort and understated luxury over sporty driving dynamics or aggressive styling. Compared to the Lexus NX 300h, the XC60 offers competitive pricing around Rs 72.50 - 74 Lakhs in India and includes a comprehensive equipment list that balances luxury and practicality without strongly emphasizing hybrid powertrain technology like the Lexus.
The XC60 Facelift is currently assembled at the Bengaluru plant in India, with all Volvo cars currently on sale in India being Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) units. With its focus on evolutionary design and tech upgrades, the XC60 facelift refines its established identity against newer rivals who often emphasize sportiness or electrification.
- The updated XC60, with its emphasis on clean design and modern features, is poised to make a strong statement in India's premium mid-size SUV industry.
- In a competitive finance sector where consumers seek modern lifestyle choices, the redesigned infotainment system in the XC60, powered by Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, could offer a compelling selling point.
- As the automotive industry continues to prioritize safety and sustainability, the equipped ADAS safety suite and air purification technology in the XC60 may attract environmentally conscious car buyers.
