Vinci, a prominent French company, purchases EnergoBit Group, a Romanian provider of energy solutions.
In a strategic move to strengthen its presence and capabilities in Romania's fast-growing energy market, Vinci Energies has announced the acquisition of EnergoBit, a Romanian energy solutions provider. The acquisition, which is subject to antitrust approval, is expected to be completed in November 2025.
EnergoBit, with a consolidated turnover of €100 million in 2024 and a team of 825 employees, including 270 engineers, specializes in electrical substations, transmission and distribution lines, grid automation, and transformer manufacturing. This expertise complements Vinci Energies' Omexom brand, which focuses on electrical grid modernization and renewable energy integration.
The acquisition aligns with Vinci Energies' strategic ambition to support the region's accelerating energy transition in Romania. Eric Devigne, managing director of Vinci Energies Central and Eastern Europe, stated, "The acquisition reflects Vinci Energies' strategic ambition to strengthen its presence in Romania."
The impact on the energy market in Central and Eastern Europe will be substantial. Romania is a key market with a growing renewable sector and large infrastructure needs. Vinci's acquisition of EnergoBit positions it to capitalize on the CEE region's estimated $1.2 trillion energy transition investment pipeline by 2030.
Pál Péter, the current chairman and co-founder of EnergoBit, believes the time is right to take the company to the next level with Vinci Energies. The founders of EnergoBit will hold leading positions in the company after the acquisition to ensure a smooth transition. Florin Pop, the CEO of EnergoBit Group, and the existing management team will continue in their roles post-acquisition.
The consolidated turnover of EnergoBit Group in 2024 was €100 million. Vinci Energies currently employs 1,500 people in Romania and generated a turnover of over €150 million in 2024. The acquisition will extend the Omexom brand to Romania and strengthen Vinci Energies' presence in the country.
Vinci Energies, a global player in concessions, energy solutions, and construction, employing 285,000 people in more than 120 countries, stands to benefit significantly from the acquisition. The acquisition of EnergoBit Group will open impressive opportunities for the development of EnergoBit, ensuring its continued growth and success in the Romanian and CEE markets.
