In the bustling Indian automotive market, major players showed mixed results in July 2025.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M Ltd.) registered a robust 26% year-on-year (YoY) growth, with total sales reaching 83,691 vehicles. This growth was primarily driven by a surge in SUV sales, with 49,871 units sold domestically, and strong growth in three-wheelers and exports.

JSW MG Motor India also achieved notable success, reporting its highest monthly sales of the year with 6,678 units sold, marking a 46% YoY increase over the 4,575 units sold in July 2024.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor showed moderate improvement, selling 32,575 vehicles, a 3% YoY increase compared to July 2024.

On the other hand, Tata Motors experienced a 12% YoY decline in passenger vehicle sales, with 39,521 units sold.

Kia India's exact July 2025 sales figures were not specified in the available sources, but the company's year-to-date sales reached 163,439 units compared to 146,644 units during the same period last year.

In the utility vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 49,871 vehicles, a growth of 20 percent, while Toyota sold 32,575 units, a slight decrease compared to 31,656 units in 2024.

Tata Motors saw an increase in sales of electric cars, selling a total of 7,124 electric cars, including export shipments. This represents a 42% year-over-year growth in electric car sales.

Maruti Suzuki, while not asked directly, also saw a moderate 3% YoY increase to 180,526 units sold, with strong exports offsetting a slight dip in domestic sales.

Auto OEMs are expected to leverage new launches to outperform across segments, while continuing to build on the EV momentum. The exclusive limited edition prestige packages for Toyota Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder have received an encouraging market response.

Notably, JSW MG Motor India launched the first two luxury products under its new luxury sales channel MG SELECT: the MG M9 - Presidential Limousine and the MG Cyberster. These products will be sold exclusively via MG SELECT Experience Centres.

Joonsoo Cho, chief sales officer of Kia India, stated that the performance shows customer trust in the Kia brand and the company's focus on delivering vehicles that meet evolving customer needs.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of M&M Ltd's Automotive Division, attributed the growth to the recent launch of XUV 3XO 'REVX' Series and the commencement of deliveries for Pack two variants of the BE 6 and XUV 9E models.

As the industry continues to evolve, auto OEMs will undoubtedly continue to innovate and adapt to meet the changing demands of the Indian market.
