Valencia Fashion Week Saved by PP After Budget Cut
Valencia Fashion Week, organized by Fashion Nova, is set to continue despite a significant cut in its budget. The regional government's withdrawal of an annual subsidy of 900,000 euros led to a 48% decrease, now standing at 474,450 euros. The Popular Party (PP) has stepped in to rescue the event, aiming to maintain Valencia's ties with the local fashion sector.
The fashion show's budget has seen a substantial reduction, with private sponsors now covering 60% of the costs, up from the previous 40%. Despite the decrease in public funding, the PP has committed to ensuring the event's survival. The next edition is scheduled for January 25 to 28 at the Ágora venue, pending any changes.
The fashion week's organization includes an open-door day, allowing visitors to explore the showroom and facilities. The event's future was uncertain following the elimination of its annual subsidy from a 14 million euro budget line for research, development, and innovation aid. However, the PP's intervention has secured its continuation.
Valencia Fashion Week will proceed with a reduced budget, following the withdrawal of public subsidies. The PP's decision to rescue the event ensures its continuation, maintaining Valencia's connection with the local fashion sector. The next edition is planned for late January, with one day dedicated to open-door access for visitors.
