In the latest development, fears are mounting for the plight of Gaza's residents as Israel prepares for a planned invasion of Gaza City, the enclave's largest urban area. According to reports, Israeli tanks are stationed on the edge of Gaza City ahead of the operation.

The European Union has proposed sanctions amid global outcry over Israel's planned invasion, expressing concern over the potential humanitarian crisis that may ensue. The proposed sanctions aim to put pressure on Israel to cease hostilities and find a peaceful resolution.

Meanwhile, negotiations over the division of the Gaza Strip between Israel and the United States have not been confirmed. Instead, Israel, Hamas, and various mediators from Qatar, the United States, and Egypt are engaged in discussions regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages in the Gaza conflict.

Israel, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt are the key players in these negotiations, with the United States offering unwavering support to Israel and advocating for the disarmament of Hamas.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has described Gaza as a potential real estate 'bonanza,' suggesting that after any demolition phase, there is a need to build in Gaza. Smotrich has also claimed that he is discussing with the United States about dividing Gaza for land sales.

These comments have sparked controversy, with critics suggesting that the far-right's desire to move Palestinians out of Gaza would amount to ethnic cleansing.

In a twist of events, Smotrich's claims seem to be supported by a satellite image taken on September 16, 2025, which shows armored vehicles just 1.5 kilometers north of Al-Shati Camp in northern Gaza.

This image follows a series of controversial statements made by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who has plans to build a 'magnificent neighborhood' for Israeli police officers in Gaza after Israel's operation in Gaza City is over.

These developments come after former US President Donald Trump posted a video on his Truth Social account in February, promoting the transformation of Gaza into a Gulf state-like resort. The video featured a golden statue of Trump, Elon Musk eating hummus, and shirtless American and Israeli leaders lounging on a beach. Trump's proposal, however, included the expulsion of 2.1 million Palestinians to transform Gaza into a 'Riviera' owned by the United States.

As of Wednesday, more than 1 million residents of Gaza have overcrowded areas further south in the strip due to the planned invasion, raising concerns about the potential for a humanitarian crisis.
