Unveiling of FaydaPass: A Digital Wallet to Bolster Financial Accessibility in Ethiopia
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has granted a five-and-a-half-year, $129.7 million contract to Leidos. This agreement is aimed at bolstering the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's Fingerprint Analysis Support Team (FAST) Biometric Services program.
Leidos, under this contract, will contribute to modernizing and enhancing the FBI's biometric services, including fingerprint analysis, as part of the CJIS Division's ongoing initiatives. The company will also collaborate with CJIS, employing agile methodologies and development operations concepts to streamline software development and testing procedures.
Leidos has been actively involved with CJIS since 2018 in connection with the development and integration of the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system. This advanced biometric identification system is utilized by federal, state, local, and tribal authorities, offering access to a vast databank of biometric and criminal history data. Significant features of NGI include the Repository for Individuals of Special Concern and Rap Back, which provides notifications on criminal activity involving individuals in roles of public trust.
This contract underscores Leidos' pivotal role in advancing federal law enforcement technology infrastructure. It also underscores the FBI's resolve to upgrade its biometric capabilities.
In accordance with the contract, Leidos will utilize their expertise in finance to fund and manage the modernization and enhancement of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) biometric services. This investment will aid in the FBI's efforts to improve fingerprint analysis and streamline software development as part of the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's initiatives.
