The LIVOS group, under the leadership of CEO Johann Kunz, is breathing new life into the Rathaus Galerie, a sprawling 22,000 square meter building in the heart of the city. The project, which involves a comprehensive modernization and transformation, is set to reposition the Rathaus Galerie as a multifunctional building complex.

Kunz acknowledges the organizational effort involved in the extensive renovations and moves taking place at the Rathaus Galerie. He expresses satisfaction over the move of the Bergische University into the Galerie, which he considers a significant milestone in the repositioning process.

The Rathaus Galerie's repositioning includes a diverse mix of uses, with a focus on creating a vibrant and dynamic environment. The goal is to offer a blend of educational offerings, retail, health services, gastronomy, leisure, and cultural activities. By autumn 2025, the roof of the Rathaus Galerie will be greened and equipped with seating areas and a small playground, transforming it into an inviting urban oasis.

The Bergische University's research and teaching operations bring life to the Rathaus Galerie. The LIVOS group, as the owner and operator of the property, is providing space, technical infrastructure, and common areas for students, ensuring a smooth transition for the university.

Zita Wolf, the Asset Manager of the LIVOS group, is actively working towards leasing the remaining spaces in the Rathaus Galerie to achieve a diverse and dynamic tenant mix. The new usage concept is well received by potential tenants for the remaining spaces, indicating a promising future for the revitalized building.

The LIVOS group is also undertaking significant modernization efforts to adapt the building technology and facilities to support the new uses and tenants. While the specifics of these adaptations are not yet detailed, the comprehensive integration of various uses and support for the university suggests a substantial overhaul.

The redevelopment plan aims to enhance the attractiveness of Rathaus Galerie and boost the economic vitality of the region, making it a potential model for revitalizing similar urban properties elsewhere. The project, with the Bergische University as a prominent new tenant, promises to create a bustling hub of activity and learning in the city.
