Unforeseen Troubles with ICE Bus Journey: At 3 PM, passengers find themselves stranded as bus doors unexpectedly stop functioning

In an unexpected turn of events, a journey from Berlin to Cologne on a high-speed ICE train turned into a long and challenging ordeal for its passengers.

The incident began when a concrete slab fell onto the overhead line, causing a halt to the train near Wolfsburg. This was followed by a medical emergency in one of the carriages, involving a man with circulation problems who required further treatment.

As if this wasn't enough, a car accident occurred near Hannover on Saturday night, causing another ICE train to halt, compounding the problems for the passengers. Desperate announcements by the train staff to distribute passengers better throughout the train fell on deaf ears, leading to overcrowding and discomfort.

Some passengers managed to make their way to Hannover Central Station by tram, but upon arrival at Wolfsburg station, they were met with a surprising sight. Hundreds of 1. FC Cologne football fans and federal police were waiting, causing tumultuous scenes.

Federal police eventually cleared the aisles after 90 minutes of standstill, but it was uncertain if the train would depart from Wolfsburg. The train was supposed to be towed to Hannover Central Station, but the coupling compartment with 1600 hand cranks had to be opened manually, further delaying the immigration.

Shortly afterwards, the ICE continued its journey towards Hannover, with many passengers visibly irritated. Announcements from the train staff were no longer possible due to the battery being turned off for towing, resulting in air conditioning, toilets, and lighting being turned off.

The train was delayed by over 100 minutes due to a defective signal box in the Lehrte area. To add to the woes of the passengers, many were told to take the next ICE to Cologne at 4:30 AM, but it was already fully booked.

Evacuation of the train took place around 3:00 AM, with passengers being taken to a nearby exit and instructed to walk to the S-Bahn station. Smoking cigarettes were allowed on the train, making the aisles impassable during the evacuation process.

Despite the challenges faced, the passengers were able to safely continue their MTA journey, albeit with a significant delay and discomfort. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of travel and the importance of preparedness and patience in such situations.
