U.S. deployment of Tesla's Full Self-Driving Beta program, limited to automobiles equipped with Hardware Version 4.
Tesla Launches Full Self-Driving Early Access Program in the U.S.
Tesla has officially launched the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Early Access Program in the United States, making it possible for owners of Tesla vehicles equipped with the latest Hardware 4 (HW4) computer to test upcoming features before they're rolled out more broadly.
The program aims to accelerate the development of Tesla's supervised Full Self-Driving system by gathering feedback and related vehicle data from participants. This data will help improve the system and make it more robust for real-world conditions.
The Early Access Program is currently only available to U.S. owners, as we have yet to see any Canadians receive the invitation. Vehicles with earlier hardware platforms, such as HW3, are not eligible for the program at this time.
The Early Access Program comes with some limitations, as it is only available for vehicles equipped with Tesla's latest Hardware 4 computer. Public owners enrolled in the FSD EAP program may be subject to the same constraints as employees, with their VINs included on the release notes.
The FSD version 14 (v14), featuring a significant 10x increase in AI model parameters, is currently in training and internal testing. The early access program will initially include employees and select testers before gradually expanding. Consumer vehicles with HW3 can expect updates around October 2025 after initial testing phases.
In China, FSD for HW3 vehicles is still pending regulatory approval, and Tesla is working through these challenges. The rollout is cautious and phased due to technical and regulatory demands.
Participating drivers in the FSD Early Access Program will be part of an ongoing feedback loop, helping Tesla refine and perfect future versions of its FSD software. The program allows participants to test upcoming features in real-world conditions, with a broader data set from diverse road environments.
The Early Access Program was hinted at in a recent update to the Tesla mobile app, and not every HW4 owner with FSD in North America is seeing the option to enroll just yet, as Tesla appears to be conducting a gradual rollout. The FSD Early Access Program does not include any advertisements for referral links.
