Phenix Truck & Van, a CPUC certified Minority Business Enterprise, has partnered with Mullen Automotive and Knapheide Manufacturing to develop a Class 3 solution for electric vehicles. This collaboration marks an important segment for Mullen Automotive, particularly in California, as they focus on public utilities and local municipalities.

Based in California, Phenix Truck & Van is one of the state's largest work truck, van equipment, and specialty truck body manufacturers. With over 45 years of experience, they specialise in designing and manufacturing custom work trucks and fire apparatus for selective customers. In this partnership, Phenix Truck Bodies & Van Equipment has completed a light-weight service truck body for the All-Electric Mullen THREE.

The Mullen THREE offers a range of 125 miles and a payload capacity of over 5,800 lbs. It boasts a versatile chassis, providing a clean top-of-rail for easy upfitting with bodies up to 14 feet in length. One of its standout features is a best-in-class turning diameter of 38 ft, making it highly manoeuvrable in urban environments. The vehicle also features a Level 3 DC charge time of 1.5 hours, ensuring quick recharge times for optimal efficiency.

David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive, has expressed his excitement about the Mullen THREE Phenix/Knapheide upfit, stating that it's a perfect use case for municipalities and utilities transitioning to electric vehicles. The vehicle was on display at Mullen's CES 2024 and will be featured at the NTEA Work Truck Show and Advanced Clean Transportation Expo.

As for commercial fleet customers, the Mullen THREE Class 3 vehicle upfit is available for evaluation and pilot programs. For those interested in learning more about this innovative electric vehicle, details can be found online.
