Transport Pass Offering Unlimited Journeys Across Multiple Modes

Let's Roll with Rui Tavares' National Mobility Pass Idea!

Rui Tavares, the man behind the Free party, recently cruised into Lisbon's Cais do Sodré on two wheels - his preferred mode of transport, it seems. He's been known to hop on his bike during trips, especially when heading to the Assembly of the Republic.

"Transportation is a diverse landscape for me," Rui shared, "I've got my own set of wheels, I ride buses, trains, but nothing beats the bike, especially with a bike dock right outside the Assembly."

Rui's got a vision for the future. He wants to introduce a National Mobility Pass that's set to revolutionize travel across the nation. This pass would cover not just traditional road and rail modes, but also innovative choices like boats and taxis in low-density areas.

"Think about it," he explained, "in some areas, taxis are the only way to reach essential services like health centers or municipal chambers. Including them in a global solution just makes sense."

Rui believes in making mobility a freedom, not a limitation. He insists, "If you want to be truly free, you shouldn't be confined to your home. You should be able to move around your country and access services that enhance your daily life."

But Rui's plans don't end there. He's also advocating for the expansion of existing multimodal passes, like incorporating the Setúbal-Troia river crossing into the Metropolitan Navigator pass and promoting multimodal passes in intermunicipal communities [1][2].

On arriving at Cais do Sodré, Rui was met by a spirited Brazilian rapper, who whipped up a song on the spot in his honor. The lyrics, filled with election fervor, called for Voting Free, Free from all dictatorship, and Free from André Ventura [3].

As always, the Free party was collecting signatures at Cais do Sodré, and Rui had a heartwarming encounter with a 22-year-old supporter who promised her vote. "The country needs a new left, a new left makes all the sense," she said.
