Transilvania Bank funds Romania's largest commercial park in Transylvania to the tune of EUR 16 million
Urbano Shopping & Living: A Transylvanian Retail Revolution
Urbano Shopping & Living, a major commercial park development in Florești, Cluj County, is set to transform the region with an investment of over €100 million by URBANO Group [1][2]. Financed by Banca Transilvania with a loan exceeding €16 million, the project aims to develop the largest shopping park in Transylvania, covering 25 hectares [3][4].
The development plan includes a mix of shopping and entertainment facilities such as a DIY store, cash & carry hypermarket, supermarket, furniture stores, and more, creating a hub that serves a local population of over 150,000 people [1][3]. URBANO Group emphasizes sustainability, accessibility, mobility, and environmentally friendly solutions in the project, signaling a commitment to sustainable urban development [1].
Alexandru Șerban, co-founder of URBANO Group, states that the new commercial park is intended to create a significant impact on residents in the western area of the Cluj Metropolitan Zone [6]. The project is expected to start operations next year [7].
Urbano Shopping & Living is more than just a shopping destination. It will feature venues including clothing, footwear, health and beauty shops, sports equipment stores, electronics stores, toy stores, cafes, confectioneries, drive-in restaurants, office spaces, and event halls [5]. The development is projected to generate over 500 jobs during construction and afterward [8].
The project's location is expected to attract a nearby population of over 150,000 people [1]. Cosmin Călin, Senior Executive Director for Large Companies, Structured Finance and Factoring at Banca Transilvania, believes such developments have the potential to create a broader ecosystem, becoming focal points for further real estate investments [2].
Banca Transilvania, the largest bank in Romania and Southeast Europe, is involved in the financing of Urbano Shopping & Living [2]. The bank serves nearly five million customers and operates more than 530 branches across 180 localities [9].
Sustainability is at the heart of Urbano Shopping & Living's design. Renewable energy sources will be utilized in the development, and efficient energy management is a part of the development plan [3]. Charging stations for electric bikes and cars will also be available [3].
The development of Urbano Shopping & Living is intended to improve accessibility, mobility, and implement environmentally friendly solutions in the local community [10]. The project aims to transform the town of Florești in Cluj County into a commercial and entertainment hub [11].
Urbano Shopping & Living marks a significant investment in Transylvania’s retail infrastructure and aims to establish Florești as a key regional destination for shopping and leisure [1][2][3][4]. The project is supported as a collaboration example with Romanian firms investing in sustainable development and is expected to boost regional growth [1][5].
