In the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Steve Hill, the president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), has been making waves with his strategic leadership and successful execution of various initiatives.

Hill, who has been in the role since 2018, has been instrumental in global marketing efforts, establishing the city as a sports destination, managing a $600 million renovation project for the LVCVA, and enhancing local transportation efforts such as the Las Vegas Monorail and the underground Vegas Loop system[1]. His portfolio also includes negotiating the move of the Athletics baseball team to Las Vegas for the 2028 MLB season[4].

Recently, the LVCVA board approved a 9% salary increase for Hill, raising his base salary to $539,550 annually. Additionally, he is eligible for a bonus of up to 50% of his salary, which can amount to $247,500[1][2]. This compensation adjustment reflects his performance and leadership achievements during his tenure.

The LVCVA's compensation committee unanimously approved the package for Hill last month[3]. Despite the overall decline in visitation to the city this year due to national economic uncertainty[5], board members felt that his new compensation was fair.

Hill himself views hotel room taxes, a significant source of the LVCVA's funding, as an investment in increasing tourism in the valley[1]. Under his leadership, the LVCVA ran six marketing campaigns over the 2025 fiscal year and added 1.8 million followers on social media[2].

Notable events under Hill's watch include a record-breaking Wrestlemania, year three of Formula 1's latest stint in Las Vegas, and a Brad Pitt movie[1]. The LVCVA's largest project, the tunnel system constructed by Elon Musk's Boring Company, has upcoming stations set for Virgin Hotels and two others near the Sphere[1].

Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero praised Hill, saying, "He consistently sets and sees a vision that nobody else can see, and puts a team together that reaches that." A route from the Strat to Circa's Garage Mahal is currently under review from the city[2].

The A's President, Marc Badain, is integrating the MLB's Athletics into the city with sleeve patches[6]. The LVCVA also holds the largest "destination" account on TikTok[2]. A permit for a "Park MGM/T-Mobile" station has been submitted[3].

With an annual salary of over $539,000 after the increase, Hill's compensation package is among the highest for such positions, reflecting his significant contributions to Las Vegas tourism and regional development[1][2][4]. The average daily rate for a hotel room on the Strip in May was just over $212[3]. As the city continues to evolve, Hill's leadership will undoubtedly play a crucial role in its future success.
