'The 'Knödelexpress' partially remains in Prague'
In a significant shift, Czech Railways has announced the introduction of Comfort-Jet trains on the Prague-Berlin route from July 26. The new trains, capable of reaching speeds of up to 230 km/h, will accommodate around 100 more passengers and offer improved comfort.
However, the much-loved "Knödel Express" train service between Prague and Berlin will come to an end as part of this modernization. The nostalgic Czech dining cars, once famed for serving traditional dishes like schnitzel, will no longer be part of the modern Nightjets.
But fear not, as these traditional dining cars will find a new home on Czech domestic connections in the future. They will not be a part of the Nightjets, but will continue to provide the familiar service that passengers have come to love.
The Eurocity connections EC 378, EC 170, and EC 258, departing from Prague Main Station at specific times, will also continue to operate with the original dining cars. Similarly, the Eurocity connection EC 171, heading towards Prague, will continue to operate with the original dining cars, while the EC 171 trains in the opposite direction will switch to Comfort-Jet trains. The Eurocity connection Hungaria (EC 172/173) composed of Hungarian carriages, will also continue to operate with the original dining cars.
Part of the new Comfort-Jet trains will continue to offer the familiar service of the "Knödel Express". Additionally, more bicycles can be taken on board the new Comfort-Jet trains, making travel more accessible for cyclists.
Meanwhile, in Hamm, the city is making strides in other areas. Homelessness remains a significant issue, but efforts are being made to address it. A new pump track is being built in Hamm-Rhynern, providing a space for skateboarding and BMX riding.
This news marks a new chapter for Czech Railways and the Prague-Berlin train route, while Hamm continues to work on improving its city infrastructure and services.
The Comfort-Jet trains, a part of the new chapter for Czech Railways, will still offer a service similar to the beloved "Knödel Express" on the Prague-Berlin route. In the domain of finance, this move signifies a strategic decision aimed at improving comfort and efficiency within the industry, particularly in transportation. Concurrently, various city services in Hamm, including a new pump track for skateboarding and BMX riding, illustrate the city's ongoing commitment to cater to diverse interests within the community, stretching from sports to addressing social issues like homelessness.
