Tesla Extends Warranty on Premium Electric Vehicle Components for 2026 Vehicle Models to a Duration of Seven Years
Tesla Introduces New 7-Year Warranty for Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y
Tesla has announced a significant upgrade to its warranty coverage for its popular S3XY lineup, which includes the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y. The new warranty offers 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km) of coverage on certain specified parts.
This new warranty comes on top of Tesla's basic vehicle warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) and its existing 8-year battery and drive unit coverage. The new warranty is a propulsion-related part warranty, offering additional coverage beyond the basic vehicle warranty and existing battery and drive unit coverage.
The new warranty covers specific propulsion-related parts, as listed in the new warranty documents. These parts include the Cooling Fan Assembly, Front, Right, and Left Electrical Harness Assemblies, Power Conversion System (PCS) Assembly, High Voltage Fast Charge Contactors Assembly, Ancillary Harness Assembly, Supermanifold Assembly, Radiator, PCS Inlet and Outlet Assembly Hoses, Front and Rear Halfshaft Assemblies, and the High Voltage System Controller.
The new warranty is available as a monthly extended warranty subscription in the U.S. and Canada. The monthly extended warranty subscription was launched in the U.S. earlier this summer and expanded to Canada last month.
However, the new warranty does not apply to the Cybertruck. Tesla has not publicly provided a specific reason for excluding the Cybertruck from the extended warranty coverage that applies to the S3XY lineup. It is likely due to the Cybertruck's unique 800V/48V electrical architecture and Tesla's need for more long-term reliability data before extending similar coverage.
This expansion adds a "High-Priced Propulsion-Related Part Warranty" for owners of the S3XY lineup, providing them with peace of mind and assurance about the durability of their vehicles' expensive components.
