T-Mobile's T-Satellite Expands Capabilities, Now Supports WhatsApp Video Chat

T-Mobile's T-Satellite network is expanding its capabilities, with a focus on optimizing apps in areas like IoT, Smart Cities, connected mobility, and enterprise solutions. The network, based on LTE cellular standards, now supports video chat on WhatsApp and offers no data caps or throttling for heavy use. It's also open to any compatible app.

T-Satellite is currently working with popular apps such as T-Life, AllTrails, AccuWeather, CalTopo, and onX. In September, it added support for navigation apps like Apple Maps and Google Maps, as well as music streaming with Apple Music and weather updates with Samsung Weather. Notably, X app (formerly Twitter) now supports scrolling feeds and media posting over the network.

The network's optimizations are driven by customer demand and feedback. It's designed to enhance data transmission efficiency, making better use of spectrum. While WhatsApp supports live audio and video chats, phone calls and emergency texts are not yet available. Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) for sending and receiving images is supported.

T-Mobile's T-Satellite service is evolving to meet the needs of its users. With no data caps or throttling, it's open to any app configured to work with the network. As optimizations continue based on customer demand, T-Satellite is poised to become an integral part of the connected ecosystem.
