Suzuki Motor Corporation has reported a mixed bag of results for August 2025. While exports surged by 137.6% year-on-year (YoY) to 17,759 units, overseas sales continued their downward trend, dropping to 95.3% with 190,910 units sold. This marks the seventh consecutive month of decline in overseas sales.
In Japan, Suzuki's production decreased to 71,121 units in August 2025, a 1.2% drop compared to the same month last year. However, sales in Japan showed an increase to 49,148 units, a 0.7% rise from August 2024, marking the third consecutive month of growth.
Globally, Suzuki produced 241,749 units in August 2025, a 5.2% decrease from the same period last year. This is the seventh consecutive month of YoY decline in production. Sales also dipped, with 240,058 units sold, a 3.7% decrease from August 2024, extending the streak of monthly sales decline to six months.
Despite the declines in production and sales, Suzuki's exports showed a significant increase in August 2025. The company will need to address the ongoing decline in overseas sales and production to maintain its global competitiveness. The cumulative global sales and production for January to August 2025 stood at approximately 2.13 million units and 2.19 million units respectively, both at around 98% of the previous year's levels.
