Stonewater commemorates its decade-long journey!
Stonewater, the UK's largest social housing provider, is marking a significant milestone as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. Established on 5 January 2015 through the merger of Jephson and Raglan housing associations, Stonewater now manages approximately 40,000 homes for over 93,000 people.
Nicholas Harris, the chief executive of Stonewater, expressed his excitement and pride about the anniversary, stating, "It's been an incredible journey, and we are proud of what we have achieved in the past decade." To commemorate this milestone, Stonewater is launching a "10 Years, 10 Stories" series to share the growth and impact of the company over the years.
The celebrations are a testament to the hard work and dedication of Stonewater's colleagues, past and present. The anniversary also marks a time for reflection on the progress made and the impact on the lives of customers. Stonewater achieved the milestone of building 7,000 newly built homes last summer and expects to reach 8,000 by 2025.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, Stonewater aims to build 1,500 homes annually and upgrade all homes to meet minimum energy efficiency standards by 2030. This is part of a broader commitment to sustainability and achieving net zero carbon emissions in social housing. While the exact details of the energy efficiency target level are not specified, this reflects a push toward more sustainable, low-carbon social housing.
Stonewater's sustainability goals also include partnering with The Greenoak Centre of Excellence to discuss ideas on achieving net zero and decarbonisation goals. However, further inquiry is required to determine when Stonewater joined forces with The Greenoak Centre of Excellence and to learn more about this collaboration.
As Stonewater looks forward to continuing to work towards their collective vision of everyone having the opportunity to have a place they can call home, they remain dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment and the communities they serve. The celebrations for Stonewater's 10th anniversary will continue throughout 2025 and will culminate in a series of company day roadshows in autumn.
