Stellantis Prepares for 2024 Product Launch with Logistics Acquisition and BEV Sales Boost

Stellantis is streamlining its inventory and logistics ahead of a major product launch in 2024. The automaker has entered exclusive talks to acquire a majority stake in French transport and logistics firm 2L Logistics. Meanwhile, its BEV and low-emission EV sales have seen a boost in the first quarter of 2024.

Stellantis is reducing inventories to maintain strong relative pricing as it prepares for the launch of 25 new models in 2024, including 18 BEV nameplates. The company's global BEV and low-emission EV sales increased by 8% and 13% respectively in Q1 2024 compared to the same period last year.

In a strategic move, Stellantis has entered exclusive negotiations to acquire a majority stake in French transport and logistics firm 2L Logistics. This comes after Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH, which began talks in December 2023, has been expanding its logistics investments in France. Stellantis aims to take more control of its outbound finished vehicle logistics by acquiring more freight assets.

Despite a 10% reduction in consolidated shipments to 1.3m units in Q1 2024, Stellantis' net revenues stood at €41.7 billion, down 12% from the same period in 2023. The company's total new vehicle inventory was 1.4m units at March 31, 2024.

Stellantis' focus on inventory management and logistics expansion signals its commitment to a successful 2024, marked by numerous new model launches. The company aims to improve growth and profitability in the second half of the year, building on the increased sales of its BEV and low-emission EVs.
