Standard equipment for Maruti Suzuki Fronx includes six airbags.
Maruti Suzuki's Fronx crossover SUV has made a significant mark in the global automotive industry, surpassing the 1 lakh export mark just 25 months after its introduction to the global markets. This milestone was achieved in the first quarter of the FY 2025-26, accounting for 47 percent of all passenger vehicle exports from India - a record high.
The Fronx has notable traction in regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, and even in Japan, where it has made a strong presence. Maruti Suzuki has held its title as the top exporter of passenger vehicles from India for four straight fiscal years, and the Fronx's success is a testament to this continued global expansion.
However, while the Fronx, Baleno, Ertiga, XL6, and several other models have received standard six-airbag safety upgrades in 2025, the S-Presso and Ignis remain the last two models waiting for this crucial update. Maruti announced in April 2025 that it would upgrade its entire passenger vehicle lineup to include six airbags across all variants in the coming months. However, as of late August 2025, these two models are yet to receive this upgrade.
The Fronx comes with two petrol engine choices and offers both manual and automatic transmission options. It shares its platform with the Baleno and is Maruti Suzuki's second compact SUV. The brand introduced the Fronx in 2023, shortly after its domestic launch in April of the same year.
South Africa, Japan, and Saudi Arabia are some of Maruti Suzuki's primary international markets, and the Fronx's success in these regions underscores the brand's growing global footprint. The Urban Cruiser Taisor and the Rumion MPV are likely to get the added safety gear next.
While the Fronx continues to make waves in the global automotive industry, safety-conscious buyers are eagerly awaiting the six-airbag upgrades for the S-Presso and Ignis. Although no confirmed launch date has been announced as of late August 2025, Maruti Suzuki continues to scale up its global footprint, offering competitive and safe vehicles to over 80 countries worldwide.
