Stagnation in the Eastern Front

The district council meeting in Gerresheim town hall recently saw a lively discussion about potential traffic solutions for the town. Ingo Pähler, the head of the traffic management department, presented updates on various proposals and ongoing investigations.

One of the key topics was the proposed cable car to ease traffic on the Bergische Landstraße and Ludenberger Straße. Pähler confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with feasibility studies and planning phases underway. However, no final decision or construction start has been announced yet. The conditions for subsidies regarding the cable car investigation are passenger volume and time savings.

Ingo Pähler also addressed the issue of the S-Bahn station, stating that the plans for its construction are scheduled for discussion in May. He assured the committee that he would make more frequent appearances in Gerresheim to keep the community informed about the progress.

Another proposal discussed was the establishment of a Metrobus route from the Bergische barracks via the Erkrather Landstraße to the S-Bahn station. All politicians present at the meeting supported this proposal. Hanno Bremer suggested a route up and down the Fahneburgstraße to spare the Ludenberger Straße further traffic. Pähler indicated that the 894 or the 730 buses could be suitable for this route.

During the meeting, Günther Gudert of the interest group of associations for a permanent bus connection to the Wildpark during the summer months made a statement that convinced the district council. No new information was provided about the A44 exit in Knittkuhl, with Pähler confirming that there is no present plan for such an exit.

Ingo Pähler was described as a lovable person during the meeting, with his 22-month tenure as head of the traffic management department earning him respect and appreciation from the community. He promised to continue his efforts to improve traffic solutions in Gerresheim and make the town a more accessible and efficient place for all its residents.
