Staggering 300,000 Euros paid but no invoice received!

After more than two decades, residents of a settlers' community on Waßmannsdorfer Chaussee in Berlin-Neukölln are still fighting for transparency regarding a mysterious account that has accumulated around 300,000 euros since 2005. The account, managed by Wobege, a subsidiary of the state-owned housing construction company Stadt und Land, on behalf of the Neukölln district, has left the settlers in the dark about their contributions and the account's current status.

Since 2005, the 38 homeowners of the settlement have been voluntarily depositing money into this account, initially 5 euros per month, which was later increased to 60 euros. The funds, transferred with the monthly ground rent, water charges, and administration costs, were intended to cover various expenses and maintenance costs of the settlement. However, the settlers have never received receipts or evidence of what they have paid in, and they have no access to the account.

The large sum deposited in the account is currently unaccounted for, leaving the settlers in a state of uncertainty. In response to the unilateral increase in voluntary contributions, the settlers' association advised its members to stop making payments. The single-family houses in the settlement were built under a hereditary building right in 1932, meaning the houses belong to the settlers, and the land is the property of the state of Berlin.

The Neukölln district office, however, is not involved in the process of the funds in the account. Christian Berg, spokesman for the Neukölln district office, expressed regret but did not provide further information. Stadt und Land, the state-owned housing construction company, is willing to have a clarifying conversation about the account, despite citing data protection reasons. They intend to approach the settlement board in the context of the inquiry.

Christiane Goldmann, the deputy chairwoman of the settlers' association and a lifelong resident of the home settlement in Neukölln, is seeking transparency regarding how and where the money was invested and about the amount of interest. She hopes that the conversation with Stadt und Land will shed light on the fate of the missing funds and bring much-needed clarity to the community.

The search results do not contain any information regarding the missing funds or what happened to them, making it essential for the settlers to consult official Berlin-Neukölln municipal records, community financial reports, or trustworthy news sources that cover local affairs in that region for accurate details about this specific financial issue.
