Spain's Online Fashion Sales Surge to €81.4M in Q2, Up 13.6%

Spain's online fashion industry has witnessed remarkable growth in the second quarter, with sales surging to 81.4 million euros, a 13.6% increase from the previous quarter and a staggering 69.5% rise since 2010. This strong performance has solidified online clothing's position as the sixth most important sector in Spanish e-commerce.

Drilling down into the figures, online footwear and leather goods sales hit 10 million euros, soaring by 66.9% compared to the same period in 2010. Meanwhile, online cosmetics sales reached 8 million euros, marking a 13.7% increase from the first quarter. The overall e-commerce growth rate was 13%, with the online clothing sector growing slightly higher than this average, maintaining its relative weight at 3.5%.

In terms of transactions, the total value of online clothing transactions within Spain jumped by 21.3% to 36.8 million euros. The number of transactions also increased significantly, by 20.8% from the previous quarter and a substantial 76% year-over-year. Sales from the exterior to Spain reached 18.2 million, with an 18.4% increase from the previous quarter. Conversely, sales from Spain to the exterior totaled 26.5 million euros, with a 1.7% increase from the first quarter.

The growth in online clothing sales is largely driven by international platforms. According to the latest European cross-border e-commerce ranking, the leading players in Spain are Amazon, Temu, and Zalando, followed by AliExpress, eBay, Nike, Etsy, Vinted, H&M, and Uniqlo.

In conclusion, the Spanish online fashion market has demonstrated robust growth in the second quarter, with increased sales and transactions. This growth is being fueled by international platforms, with a diverse range of players contributing to the sector's success. As consumer preferences continue to shift towards online shopping, the Spanish online fashion industry is poised for further growth.
