Solar Power Talks Continue Despite Trump's Restrictions

Despite recent restrictions, solar power development on public land remains a topic of discussion within the Interior Department. Acting Bureau of Land Management (BLM) leader, along with other officials, have held several meetings on the subject, suggesting it's not entirely off the agenda.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum had previously imposed new limits on solar power development on public land. These meetings involved the acting head of the Federal Agriculture Agency and various Interior Ministry employees, indicating a collaborative approach to the issue.

However, Ben Norris, vice president of regulatory affairs at the Solar Energy Industries Association, has not witnessed any signs of the Trump administration changing its stance on renewable energy development. Norris mentioned that Secretary Burgum has 'slammed the door on solar and storage', despite the increasing demand for power due to AI and data centers.

Although Secretary Burgum has implemented new restrictions, the ongoing discussions within the Interior Department suggest that solar power development on public land is still under consideration. The Solar Energy Industries Association, however, has not observed any shifts in the Trump administration's position on renewable energy development.
