Services temporarily halted on the Tasqueña route, attributed to an electrical short circuit, affecting Military College.
Metro Line 2 Service Suspended Due to Short Circuit Incident
The Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro has announced a service suspension on Line 2 between Tasqueña and Colegio Militar, following a short circuit incident in the segment between Pino Suárez and Zócalo stations. This has resulted in trains being trapped and passengers being evacuated by walking along the tracks.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of explosions, fires, or injuries. The service remains halted on this stretch, but normal operation continues from Colegio Militar northward to the terminal Cuatro Caminos.
As an alternative transportation option, the Red de Transporte Público (RTP) is providing free bus service in both directions to cover the suspended Metro segment from Tasqueña to Colegio Militar. The RTP is also offering free support for the transfer of users in the affected section.
The director of the STC Metro, Adrián Rubalcava, confirmed the extension of the provisional service and the suspension from Hidalgo to Tasqueña. He also mentioned that updates will be provided through the official channels of the @MetroCDMX. Teams of fixed installations are working on the repair of the track system at the Zócalo-Pino Suárez interchange.
In summary, the current status of Metro Line 2 service between Tasqueña and Colegio Militar is suspended. The affected stations are particularly those between Pino Suárez and Zócalo. However, no injuries or fires have been reported. As an alternative, free RTP buses are running between Tasqueña and Colegio Militar, while the Metro service continues to operate normally from Colegio Militar northward to Cuatro Caminos.
This information is up to date as of August 14, 2025. Specialized personnel of the Metro is working to restore the operation as soon as possible. Passengers are advised to follow the official channels of the @MetroCDMX for updates.
