Sedgemoor District Council to Build 16 New Affordable Homes in Somerset
Sedgemoor District Council is set to build 16 new affordable homes in Somerset. The development, located at Somerset Village, Nether Stowey, will be constructed by Strongvox Homes of Taunton. The £1.5m government grant-funded project will provide a mix of two and three-bedroom flats and houses, including a disabled-access property, all at social housing rent levels.
The development will comprise six two-bedroom flats and six two-bedroom homes, along with three three-bedroom homes. Notably, there will also be a three-bedroom home designed with disabled access in mind. This variety caters to the diverse needs of local residents.
The Housing Development Manager at Homes in Sedgemoor (now Homes in Somerset) has welcomed this development. They view the construction of 16 new affordable rent homes in Somerset as a significant positive step. The manager, who has not been named, believes these homes will greatly benefit the local community.
The construction of these 16 new low-cost homes in Somerset is set to begin soon. Once completed, they will be purchased by Sedgemoor District Council and offered to local residents at social housing rent levels. This project, funded by a £1.5m government grant, is expected to provide much-needed affordable housing options in the area.
