Schweinfurt Customs Finds Wage, Social Security Non-Compliance in 42 Businesses
The Schweinfurt Customs Office has completed a comprehensive audit of businesses in the gastronomy, hospitality, hairdressing, and cosmetics sectors. The investigation, covering 79 businesses and 166 individuals, revealed widespread non-compliance with wage and social security laws.
The audit, which included 17 on-site investigations, uncovered numerous deficiencies in mandatory notification and recording obligations. The customs office found indications of possible violations in 42 cases, including wage withholding, minimum wage non-payment, illegal employment of foreign workers, and improper receipt of state benefits.
The regional special audit in the hairdressing and cosmetics industry, along with inspections focused on the gastronomy and hospitality sectors, has led to extensive follow-up audits to ensure compliance with wage and social security laws. The customs office will now reconcile employee interview data with company wage and financial records and conduct further investigations.
