Romania's Highway Network to Nearly Double by 2025
Romania is set to significantly expand its high-speed road network in the coming years. Since Sorin Grindeanu took office as transport minister, the country has already opened 650 kilometers of highway. With ambitious plans underway, Romania aims to reach nearly 1,500 kilometers of high-speed road by 2025.
Grindeanu, leading the 'Dezvoltarea infrastructurii rutiere din România' project, plans to open another 150 kilometers of highway in 2025. This will include the completion of the A7 highway, connecting Bucharest to Bacău. Additionally, the minister has announced the opening of 250 kilometers of highway and express road in the same year. These developments are part of Romania's larger goal to have close to 2,000 kilometers of highway by the end of 2025. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has also confirmed that over 200 kilometers of highways and express roads are planned for inauguration in 2025.
If these plans materialize, Romania's high-speed road network will nearly double by 2025. This expansion is expected to improve connectivity, facilitate travel, and boost the country's economy.
