The Green Bay Packers, one of the most successful franchises in the National Football League (NFL), experienced a 39.3% increase in operating profit for their 2025 fiscal year, but a 12.5% decline in net income, according to The Associated Press.

The Packers' operating profit for the year ended March 31, 2025, stood at $83.7 million, a significant boost from the $60.1 million reported in 2024. This increase was primarily driven by a rare ninth regular-season home game under the NFL’s 17-game schedule and increased local revenue.

Local revenue increased by 13.7%, from $251.8 million in 2024 to $286.4 million in 2025, due to the additional home game. The Packers also saw an increase in national revenue, which rose by 7.5%, from $402.3 million to $432.6 million.

However, despite this strong operational performance, the Packers' net income dropped to $85.6 million, a decrease of 12.5% from the $98.1 million reported in 2024. This decrease was mainly due to a significant decline in non-operating income, mostly from weaker investment returns compared to the prior year.

Operating expenses rose 7% to $635.4 million, partially offsetting revenue gains. Each NFL team received $432.6 million from the NFL, primarily from TV contracts, which helped offset some of the increased expenses.

Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy, who is retiring and will be replaced by Ed Policy during the Packers' annual shareholders meeting, expressed admiration for the NFL's revenue generation. However, he emphasised that the revenue boost from the ninth game is an unusual event and may not be repeated every year, as the NFL alternates this additional home game between conferences and may allocate some games internationally.

In summary, the Packers saw a marked improvement in operating profit due to scheduling and media factors, but net income declined due to poorer investment returns and higher expenses. Murphy attributed the decrease in net income to market and investment-related factors. In 2024, the Packers had a higher net income compared to 2025, and the Packers' non-operating income for the 2025 fiscal year decreased significantly, from $38 million in 2024 to $1.9 million in 2025. The Packers' profit from operations for the 2025 fiscal year rose nearly 40%, from $60.1 million in 2024 to $83.7 million.
