In a significant development for the painting and varnishing trade in Rhein-Kreis Neiss, it has been announced that wages for both painters and varnishers, as well as apprentices, are set to increase. Tino Brünning, a local representative, has revealed that from August, painters and varnishers will receive a pay increase of 50 euros, while apprentices will benefit from a similar increase next summer.

The wage increase for painters and varnishers, effective from April, is retroactive and will see the minimum wage rise to 15.55 euros per hour. However, the minimum wage for apprentices in the same trade has not been explicitly stated in the announcement.

The pay rise follows "extremely tough wage negotiations," but it is not clear whether the same applies to the increase for apprentices. The union representing the painters and varnishers cites figures from the employment agency to support the number of employees in the sector, which remains at around 590, distributed among 99 businesses in Rhein-Kreis Neuss.

Brünning also hinted at further wage increases for both painters and varnishers, as well as apprentices, from next summer. The exact details of these future increases are yet to be specified.

It is important to note that collective bargaining agreements for painters and varnishers in Germany are usually negotiated at the regional or state level, with the agreements reflecting agreed percentage wage increases over fixed periods. For Rhein-Kreis Neuss, which is in North Rhine-Westphalia, these agreements are typically negotiated by the relevant trade unions and local employer associations.

To obtain the most accurate and up-to-date data on these agreements and wage increase schedules, it is recommended to consult the local trade union offices for painters and varnishers, such as the IG BAU regional office, the Handwerkskammer Düsseldorf or Cologne, or official publications or websites of employer associations in the painting and varnishing trade in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The union representing the painters and varnishers plans to negotiate further wage increases for apprentices, similar to the ones planned for their mentors, starting from next summer. In the neighboring sectors of manufacturing and finance, such negotiations are often instrumental in establishing a comparable wage structure across industries.
