The second-generation Honda Amaze S trim continues to be a popular choice in India's compact sedan market, offering a comprehensive safety package with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features.
Launched in 2018, the second-generation Amaze is currently being sold alongside the third-generation model. This older version is available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 88 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic, providing versatility for different driving preferences.
The Amaze S trim stands out as the only sub-4 metre compact sedan in India to offer ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Watch Camera. It also comes with standard 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX mounts, and various active and passive safety aids.
The Amaze S offers a large 416-litre boot, competitive or superior to many rivals. It features an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity standard, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, and automatic climate control, contributing to a premium feel. However, it lacks some features like a sunroof and 360-degree camera available in certain rivals.
Dimensionally, the Honda Amaze is about 3995 mm long, 1733 mm wide, with a 2470 mm wheelbase and 172 mm ground clearance, typical for compact sedans and comparable to competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Aura.
Honda has streamlined its lineup by offering only the S trim in the 2025 Amaze relaunch. The focus is on a balanced mid-level variant that combines essential features and technology at a competitive price starting around ₹8.09 lakh (ex-showroom). This contrasts with the multiple trim offerings by rivals.
Comparing briefly, the Honda Amaze S (2nd Gen) offers more comprehensive safety features, a larger boot, and a premium feel at a competitive price, but lacks multiple engine or fuel options that competitors offer.
