The automotive world is abuzz with the latest offering from Ford, the Tourneo Courier. This vehicle harks back to the popular midi-people movers of the 1990s and early 2000s, but with a contemporary twist.
In Europe, the Transit Courier DCiV, a counterpart to the Tourneo Courier, boasts an impressive loadspace of 2.9 cubic metres and a payload capacity of up to 845kg. However, Ford New Zealand has yet to release similar figures for the Transit Courier DCiV.
The Tourneo Courier shares its platform with the Ford Puma, demonstrating Ford's commitment to engineering excellence. As for size, the Tourneo Courier Active is approximately 4.3 metres long, making it comparable to a Toyota C-HR.
Under the hood, the Tourneo Courier Active is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine, delivering 92kW and 200Nm of torque. This power is transmitted through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The vehicle also retains rear seats, a feature inherited from its commercial counterpart, the Transit Courier DCiV.
The interior of the Tourneo Courier Active is as impressive as its engine. The spacious upright cabin houses a 3-seat rear bench, and the seats are part-trimmed in a durable and easy-to-clean "soft technical fabric."
The Transit Courier DCiV, on the other hand, offers a fold-and-tumble rear seat that increases its rear load space. The light-commercial sister model to the Tourneo Courier is the Transit Courier DCiV, priced at $49,990.
Both the Tourneo Courier and Transit Courier models are now available for order, with deliveries scheduled for the last quarter of the year. The manufacturing of the Ford Transit Courier commenced in 2023 at the Ford Otosan facility in Romania.
The Tourneo Courier is the passenger version of a commercial vehicle, specifically the smaller, city-friendly version of the Transit. The Tourneo Courier Active is priced at $55,990.
