Retail Giants Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart Maintain Fastest-Growing Status in USA
Several retailers, including Costco, Sam's Club, and Walmart, are predicted to maintain their status as the fastest-growing in the USA. These companies consistently appear in the Hot 25 list due to their commitment to expanding locations and steady growth. This expansion includes the opening of new warehouse clubs and supercenters, as well as a focus on improving both physical stores and e-commerce platforms to cater to evolving consumer preferences.
Two retailers, Total Wine & More and Harbor Freight Tools, have shown that a slow and steady approach can also lead to Hot 25 rankings. Total Wine & More, currently ranked No. 18, opened 14 new stores in 2024 and plans to maintain this pace until 2030. Meanwhile, Harbor Freight Tools, ranked No. 19, has been opening two to three new stores per week in 2024, reaching over 1,500 locations early in the year.
David Marcotte, Kantar's senior vice president, credits these companies' frequent appearance in the Hot 25 list to their strategic expansion approach.
The Hot 25 retailers demonstrate that both rapid and steady growth can lead to success. Companies like Costco, Sam's Club, and Walmart show no signs of slowing down, while Total Wine & More and Harbor Freight Tools prove that consistent, calculated expansion can also pay off. This diversity in growth strategies highlights the adaptability and resilience of these retailers in the ever-changing retail landscape.
