The Town's Long-Awaited Revitalization: Hackfurthstraße is Back in Action

construction work on the Hackfurthstraße stretch between Oberhofstraße and Dorfheide has finally concluded, adding a breath of fresh air to the heart of our town.

This 650-meter expansion encompassed more than just repaving the roadway. The project saw four new bus stops added along Rentforter Straße and Oberhofstraße, as well as the construction of two roundabouts to manage traffic more efficiently. Bike paths on Oberhofstraße, Hackfurthstraße, and at the intersection received a much-needed renewal and expansion. The traffic light system at the Hackfurthstraße/ Rentforter Straße intersection has been upgraded, and all street lighting has been replaced.

The project's total cost was approximately 4.5 million euros, with approximately 1.75 million euros secured as a state grant, as Mayor Bernd Tischler highlighted at the unveiling ceremony. To minimize disruptions for residents and businesses, the project was divided into seven construction phases. Although resources were diverted to the Feldhausener Straße and Dorstener Straße detours, the overall feedback from the community was mainly positive, noted Mayor Tischler.

District Mayor Hendrik Dierichs lauded the collaborative effort with the Civil Engineering Department during construction, expressing appreciation for quick problem-solving and coordination. The project was handled by Eurovia Bau GmbH, a local company that won the tender.

Mayor Tischler underlined the project's significance during the unveiling, emphasizing that maintaining and modernizing municipal infrastructure is a crucial responsibility for the town. Although temporary restrictions may occur, such investments ensure the long-term usability of public spaces. "Every investment we make serves as an investment in our future, and I am thrilled with each measure we complete to contribute to the preservation and viability of our city," stated Tischler. Dierichs agreed, expressing that the revitalized Hackfurthstraße now serves as a shining example of the village's progress.

With the Hackfurthstraße’s reopening, traffic flow has improved significantly, promising a smoother ride for all.

The project's completion on Hackfurthstraße has marked a new era for transportation in our town, with improved traffic flow easing commuting for many. This revitalization, punctuated by the addition of modern infrastructure such as roundabouts and bike paths, will undeniably impact the industry sector, as businesses along the route experience increased accessibility and foot traffic. Furthermore, the financial sector, specifically local construction and engineering firms, will benefit from this surge in growth and development projects, as the demand for similar endeavors may follow suit.
