Renault Corporation and Verkor establishment: a prolonged business alliance for providing top-tier, low-emission batteries
Renault Group and Verkor Partner for Electric Vehicle Battery Production in France
Renault Group and Verkor have strengthened their strategic partnership with a long-term commercial agreement, marking a significant step forward in Europe's energy transition. The partnership will see Verkor, a French battery manufacturer, providing Renault Group with 12 GWh of high-performance, low-carbon batteries annually.
The batteries will be produced at Verkor's future Gigafactory in Dunkirk, set to commence operation in 2025. This development is a testament to Renault Group's ambition to master the entire electric value chain, as stated by François Provost, Director of Purchasing, Partnerships, and Public Affairs at Renault Group.
The partnership ensures a long-term supply of electric vehicle batteries to Renault Group, with the batteries set to be used in the premium segments of Renault Group's brands. From 2025, the future 100% electric C-Crossover GT of Alpine will be equipped with these batteries.
The construction of Verkor's Gigafactory is being funded as a result of the partnership. The batteries produced at this facility will contribute to Europe's energy transition, helping to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable mobility.
The co-founder and chairman of the supervisory board of Verkor is Sébastien Piat. Mastering the battery value chain is a fundamental aspect of Verkor's project, according to Benoit Lemaignan, Co-founder and Chairman of Verkor's Board.
Renault Group continues to develop a robust electric ecosystem in France, including technology centers, vehicle, engine, and battery factories. This partnership with Verkor underscores Renault Group's confidence in Verkor's innovative, high-performance, low-carbon technology.
In addition to the partnership, Renault Group and Verkor have signed a commercial agreement for the supply of electric vehicle batteries. This agreement further solidifies the collaboration between the two companies and sets the stage for a more sustainable future in the automotive industry.
