A regional train travelling from Frankfurt (Oder) to Magdeburg collided with a shopping cart at a level crossing near Brandenburg an der Havel early this morning. The incident occurred between the stations Goetz and Brandenburg Hauptbahnhof.

Fortunately, there were approximately 20 passengers on board the train at the time of the collision, and none of them were injured. Despite the train hitting the cart and dragging it for approximately 400 meters, no further damage was initially reported, apart from some scratches. The cart became lodged under the train's engine in the wheel arch.

The driver noticed the shopping cart on the tracks near the village of Wust. Witnesses are asked to contact the Federal Police with any information regarding the placement of the shopping cart on the tracks. The Federal Police Inspectorate Berlin-Ostbahnhof is investigating the incident on suspicion of endangering rail traffic.
