Freshening Up the Budget Chat: Krasnodar's Number Crunching
June 24 - Yug Times. The bigwigs of Krasnodar were busy at the table, with ZSK Chairman, Yuriy Burlačko, leading the way in a debate over the draft law on the regional budget for 2024. Joining the discussion were Finance Minister, Alexander Knyyshov, Chairman of the Regional Audit Chamber, Sergey Usenko, and more.
Burlačko shared some good news about the region's economic health amidst the turbulence: "The numbers tell a story of positive financial and economic movements, despite the pressures of sanctions and other challenges. We've expanded our homegrown income and receiving a helping hand from the federal center helped us meet our social duties and pour more into infrastructure development," Burlačko grinned.
Knyyshov, the financial whiz, pointed out that the region's financial stability was the crowning glory in 2024.
The regional revenue for 2024 topped out at an impressive 509.6 billion rubles, while expenses reached 536.5 billion rubles, marking a 5.7% uptick compared to 2023. Over two-thirds of the expenses, totalling 366.6 billion rubles, went toward social causes.
The majority of the expenses, around 89.5% or 480 billion rubles, were shelled out as part of 28 state programs.
A delightful tidbit shared by Ivan Artyomenko, the committee chairman, was a 3% GDP growth rate. More small and medium-sized businesses graced the region as well.
Usenko, the Audit Chamber head, and the experts chipped in with their expert opinions.
The ZSK Chairman suggested giving the green light to the draft law and moving it to the next plenary session after the debate.
"We've managed to keep our finances stable and provide resources for a variety of social and economic needs," Burlačko concluded, reflecting satisfaction with the job well done.
