Refitted Renault Scenic Appears as Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Redesign
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, a new SUV designed to fill the gap between the ASX and Outlander, has been unveiled in the UK. The vehicle made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, marking Mitsubishi's return to the European market.
The Eclipse Cross promises to deliver a range of 372 miles and will be available for purchase starting January 2018. Its base price in the UK will be £21,275.
Mitsubishi has not done much to differentiate the Eclipse Cross from the Scenic, its predecessor. However, the new model does feature a new grille and DLRs (Daytime Running Lights), as well as a redesigned back end that somewhat resembles the Scenic with an added black strip.
Inside, the Eclipse Cross boasts new diamond-quilted seats, while retaining the Scenic's 12.3-inch driver display and 12.0-inch infotainment system.
The Eclipse Cross is powered by an 87kWh battery and a 215bhp motor. It is Mitsubishi's pitch for the Nissan Qashqai's buyers, aiming to attract those looking for a decent offering in the compact SUV segment.
Responsible for the sale of the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in the UK are typically senior executives within Mitsubishi Motors' UK division or regional management, such as the country manager or sales director.
While some may argue that re-badging an already two-year-old Scenic does not shout innovation, the Eclipse Cross is a new Mitsubishi SUV that is worth considering for those in the market for a compact SUV.
