Rates for charging services to be increased by Maingau declared
Maingau Autostrom, a renowned German electricity and charging services provider, has announced changes to its pricing structure for electric vehicle (EV) charging, effective from August 13, 2024. The changes aim to offer more favourable prices in the DC range and align with the price structures of local operators.
Currently, high DC charging prices, which include providers like Allego, Mer, and others, as well as "regular" DC charging points outside the Germany-wide network of EWE Go and Pfalzwerke, Aral Pulse, E.On Drive, Lichtblick, and market leader EnBW, stand at 0.82 €/kWh. However, under the new pricing structure, these charges will decrease to a standard price of 0.72 €/kWh.
Providers like Mer or Allego, which now fall under the standard price, will cost 0.72 instead of 0.79 €/kWh in the future. On the other hand, charging with Aral Pulse, EWE Go, EnBW or E.ON Drive will be more expensive at 0.82 €/kWh than before.
The new AC charging price in Germany will be 0.62 €/kWh, with a "preferred price" of 0.52 €/kWh. The current AC charging price at Maingau Autostrom is 0.59 €/kWh, with an additional 10 cents abroad.
Maingau Autostrom is also introducing a "discount price" for DC charging, offering a ten-cent discount on the low price (down to 0.52 €/kWh) and on the standard price (down to 0.62 €/kWh). This discount does not apply to high-price providers.
The "standby surcharge" for AC charging remains the same at 0.10 €/min after 180 minutes (maximum of 12 euros per charging process). The blocking fee remains unchanged as well.
In a significant move, Maingau Autostrom will unify its prices across Europe, offering the same favourable price in different countries. The terms and conditions will be adjusted with effect from September 15, including the option to view current prices in the Autostrom app.
Moreover, Maingau Autostrom will no longer charge additional fees for electricity and/or gas customers abroad. A credit check will be introduced for new customers at the time of contract conclusion.
However, as of the time of writing, specific updated tariffs or changes effective from August 13, 2024, for AC and DC charging points with Maingau Autostrom in Germany and abroad are not detailed in publicly available sources. It is recommended to consult their official website or customer service for the exact new pricing plans or fees.
Technology advances in the electric vehicle industry have led Maingau Autostrom to reconsider its financing strategies, with plans to lower DC charging prices for providers like Mer and Allego from 0.79 €/kWh to 0.72 €/kWh. Simultaneously, finance experts predict an increase in the costs of charging with Aral Pulse, EWE Go, EnBW, or E.ON Drive from the current 0.82 €/kWh to the same price. This adjustment is part of a broader trend to standardize pricing structures in the technology sector, with Maingau Autostrom aiming to provide more competitive prices in the industry.
