Nuremberg-Ansbach Railway Line under temporary closure for a week

Travelers and commuters on the Nuremberg-Ansbach railway line should prepare for disruptions from Monday, May 26, to Monday, June 2, as construction of a new bridge in Heilsbronn, Ansbach district, necessitates the closure of this line. Deutsche Bahn announced this closure, with work set to take place day and night during the specified period.

The Nuremberg-Ansbach line will be completely shut during this time for the installation of the new bridge, leaving both the line and the Wicklesgreuth-Windsbach branch line inoperative. Replacement bus services will be provided. The new bridge, scheduled to be inserted into the rail network, replaces a level crossing in Heilsbronn.

According to Deutsche Bahn, the bridge, a steel-reinforced concrete structure approximately 21 meters long, 13 meters wide, and 6 meters high, will also see the railway carry out track maintenance and renew rails. The total cost of the bridge and related infrastructure works is estimated to be around 7.3 million euros.

Post-construction plans for the level crossing in Heilsbronn are not yet detailed, although general infrastructure project timelines may see subsequent work to connect the new bridge to the existing road network by October 2026, followed by the dismantling of the level crossing. Consult official sources for up-to-date information on the completion date and post-construction plans.

Affected cities include Nuremberg and Ansbach. The construction takes place in the Ansbach district of Mittelfranken.

Small and medium-sized enterprises in the affected cities of Nuremberg and Ansbach might experience temporary disruptions in their transportation and automotive industries, due to the closure of the Nuremberg-Ansbach railway line. Community aid could be necessary to support these small and medium-sized enterprises during this week-long closure, as they might face difficulties in finance to maintain their operations or deliveries.
