PROTECT 2025 Gathers Retail Experts to Tackle $101B Loss Problem
Our website PROTECT 2025 hosted a series of insightful sessions and panels, bringing together industry experts to discuss pressing issues in retail asset protection and loss prevention. Notable speakers included Tony D'Onofrio, Ben Dugan, Scott McBride, and Read Hayes, PhD.
The event kicked off with the session 'Retail Asset Protection 2030: Innovating for a Secure Tomorrow', led by Tony D'Onofrio, president at Sensormatic Solutions. This was followed by the panel 'Strategic Cargo Theft Vulnerabilities', featuring Courtney Homan, Byron Smith, Scott Cornell, and Matthew Walsh, who delved into the intersection of cybercrime and fraud threats.
Other key sessions included 'Third Party Cyber Risk Management', with Chad Walker, Gianni D'Aprile, and Wei Dong, and 'Breaking the Refund Abuse Cycle', led by Christi Barney and Kim Stevenson from Amazon and Target respectively. Ben Dugan, president of the Coalition of Law Enforcement and Retail, and Scott McBride, chief global asset protection officer at American Eagle Outfitters Inc., also shared their expertise. Fiona Soltes and Read Hayes, PhD, director of the Loss Prevention Research Council, were among the attendees.
In light of late 2023's report revealing $101 billion in retail losses due to return fraud, the discussions at PROTECT 2025 took on added significance. The event provided a platform for industry leaders to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strategize for a more secure future in retail.
