Proposed Rezoning for Elmwood Area Discussed at First Hearing
In a recent meeting, the City Council of Sheridan discussed several property changes in the vicinity of East 5th Street. One of the key decisions made was the approval of an ordinance to rezone 31.8 acres of unplatted property on the 900 block of East 5th Street.
The rezoning, initiated by The East Fifth Street Company, will change the property from the R-1 Residence District to the B-1 Business District. This rezoning allows for multi-family residential use on the property and potential future commercial use.
The rezoning process is not yet complete, as it requires approval from the City Council two more times. The rezoning was approved on first reading during a Monday night meeting, and the next steps will be closely monitored.
The City Council's meeting also included discussions about property changes around Kendrick Municipal Golf Course. A notable decision was the consideration of deannexing 3.64 acres and annexing 4.15 acres of property near the golf course.
The City Planner, Kelly Schroeder, will oversee the rezoning process. Future stories will provide more details about the City Council meeting and the progress of the rezoning.
